The Unofficial Embassy of Ireland is a temporary art installation in the Embassy district of Prishtina, Kosovo.
The aim of the installation is to bring a céad míle fáilte to the worlds newest country and to bring a piece of Ireland to the people of Kosovo through Irish hospitality and a cultural exchange at the Unofficial Embassy of Ireland.
Ireland was among the first group of countries to formally recognise Kosovo’s independence in February 2008. Ireland has official diplomatic representation in Kosovo, but is currently without an embassy.
During the month of February the Unofficial Embassy of Ireland will host:
- An Irish art exhibition
- Irish language classes
- Irish film nights
- Traditional Irish cooking
- An introduction to the sport of Hurling
- Irish Poetry readings and story telling
The Unofficial Embassy will be an open house where all are welcome to participate or visit for a cup of Irish tea.
Delighted to see what you guys are doing in Kosovo. Very proud of you here in Ireland.
All Irish Citizens – take note!!!!
Would love to join you for the ‘irish stew’ but Kosovo is so far away….
